I think this reviewer spent too much time in weird parts of town and based an entire review on a single bad visit. I've been here for almost 20 years. Sure, there are shady parts of Austin, just like any metroplex. This isn't the uber-white-feel-safe-in-your-gentrification kind of place. You have to like flavor to be here long-term. It's not for the unadventurous or the meek. We come here and stay here to be weird (real) and keep it that way. We're filthy in a I-don't-mind-sand-between my-toes kind of way.
