9/20/2021I'm not what your point is about highways around Reading (Reading has a very poor highway network compared to a lot of other places in Pennsylvania and in other states). Are you saying that having these highways ruined the city? Because if you look at a map of Pennsylvania you will see that pretty much every larger city has a network of highways around it. Most cities in the state have a much better highway network than Reading, the highways we have here are pretty pathetic. I'm not sure how Allentown and Lancaster are better than Reading now because they have highways that allow motorists to pass by their cities! I definitely agree with you on Allentown and Lancaster being better than Reading....but then again, that's not hard to beat!

9/20/2021I certainly wish you would have been right. It's been 14 years since your comment, Reading is still a dreary place. I def agree that the tough policing in NYC drove some of that crime here, but maybe some of them will go back to NY now since they no longer police crime in NYC!

9/20/2021I've lived here since 1985, it's now been 14 years since you wrote this comment. I agree with a lot of what you wrote, but traffic here is nothing compared to some places. The highway network here isn't very good that's for sure, but I just don't agree that the traffic is that horrible. Having an interstate pass through or very close to the city would be great, but that will never happen.

9/20/2021Summers are disgustingly humid, totally agree. Did you mean cold winters? Yes, sometimes cold, sometimes very mild, it varies. Fall is nice, spring is ok.

9/20/2021The only disagreement I would have with your review is that Reading is like NYC or Philadelphia. NYC and Philadelphia have bad areas of course, but those cities have good areas too. Reading really doesn't have too many good areas. Just a couple of residential areas that are ok, and there's really nothing touristy to do at all.

Correction to information on this profile -
9/20/2021The paragraph that gives a summary of the greater Reading area contains incorrect information. It states that Reading is in southwest Pennsylvania. That is incorrect. Reading is in southeast Pennsylvania. If it were in southwest Pennsylvania, it would be near Pittsburgh. It is all the way across the commonwealth from Pittsburgh. It is northwest of Philadelphia, in southeastern Pennsylvania. Thank you.
