Colbert, WA | 1 Review(s)

I grew up in Northern California and moved to Southern California 10 years before moving to Colbert, WA 3 years ago. What a great change that was! I work for a rapidly growing electric car manufacturer in Spokane. Life is much slower and much more enjoyable now. The people here do not try to impress one another with what they have. They generously offer a smile and a happy greeting to perfect strangers. The kids seem like they are living on the set of Happy Days . . . polite and sweet and kind of naive. A very refreshing place to be.

Colbert, WA

CLOSE TO CITY, FAR FROM RAT RACE, A CIVILIZED NATU - 8/3/2008
Colbert, WA is a growing place for people who love the country but need to work, shop, or play in a nearby city. Families, singles, youth and retired folks can enjoy everything Colbert has to offer. It is near well-respected higher education (Gonzaga, WSU, EWU, Whitworth), jobs, excellent health care, and is in the very highly rated Mead School District. At home in Colbert one can enjoy a quiet night watching the moon rise over gorgeous rolling hills, forests, and mountains in every direction. Or see a baby deer on his first day of life and watch him grow all summer. Nearby Greenbluff offers fruit and vegetable picking throughout the growing season and family events, like the Annual Cherry Pick and Trot, are put on by the Greenbluff growers. Colbert has enough snow in Winter to keep things clean and crisp and enough sun in Summer to keep the trees and bees happy. We enjoy the beautiful bursting of flowers and buds everywhere in Spring and in Fall the color nature offers is simply stunning. Taking the drive (or public transit) to downtown Spokane, with all its skywalks, restaurants, hotels including the world famous Davenport, theaters, libraries, and upscale shopping, always takes under half an hour, even in traffic and even including finding parking. The lovely Riverfront Park is right in the middle of downtown and the great Spokane River runs through it. What a dramatic scene when the mountain snow is melting making the falls a crashing foaming sight to behold. Finding Colbert has been like finding gold at the end of a rainbow. What a lovely place to live!
