Denver, CO

Denver Metro Area - 9/16/2009
For all of you "hatin" on Denver. I suggest you go back to where you came from and take responsibility for yourself.

I grew up here. For all the newcomers if you think we're snotty or aloof, we might have reason. Look at yourself. Think about what you're doing to disrupt our culture instead of you embracing it. If I came into your house and told you what you have to change, you wouldn't like it either.

I've lived in and around Denver since me and God were kids. I know what the Valley Highway is and a Denver without I-25 and I-70. Denver is a comfortable town. It's laid back unless you're from California and think 4 wheel drive means you can drive real fast on snow. And yes, it does snow here. That's why people come here. The fact is, unlike any other place, it can snow one day and you can be walking the dog in your shorts the next. It's a place of extremes. This is a place where you can go to the mountains and get cooled off in the summer. Only July and August are traditionally the worst months for hot. January and February are the worst months for cold. I know, I got my nose frostbit on Mary Jane in February once.

If you have a zest for life, Denver is the place for you. There are so many opportunities for fun here. If you like the outdoors, we have it. If you're not skiing, you're probably biking somewhere. There are very few beaches in Colorado. So if you expect beaches, move to Florida or California. The climate is semi-arid. Get used to bread drying up in a matter of seconds. Semi-arid means a lot of things that are green won't grow unless furnished with lots of water which sometimes we have and sometimes we don't. Don't expect green when we don't. Of course, we don't sweat as much here and hairstyles seem to last longer.

Denver itself is semi-cosmopolitan. We grew up from mining towns and then cow town. Try to blend in to the cowboy culture. It helps in assimilating.
Every thing from 17th street law firms to stage productions can be found downtown. The Annual Stock show is a tradition as well as our Broncos, Rockies, Nuggets and Avalanche.

Littleton, CO

Denver Metro Area - 5/20/2009
I've lived here almost all my life having grown up in the mountains west of Littleton. At various times, I've lived in Golden, Arvada, Northglenn, Aurora and lately Centennial. Denver is a great place to live if you don't mind the winters. The winters offer a number of snow activities: skiing, snowboarding, sledding, ice skating, etc. The summers are moderate. Bike trails are numerous and outdoor activities overflow. The growing season is a little short for my gardens. For an all around, 4 seasons place, it's great. It has it's surprises. Fronts move through here like Montezuma's Revenge. You can be skiing in your bikini one day and wrapped all the way from your eyebrows down to your muk luks the next. Weather can be finicky. If the cold bothers you, it's not a great place to be as the winters can be brutal on some days.
