Enumclaw wonderful memories. -
6/26/2010I lived in Enumcalw in '48 and '49 when I was 10-11 yrs old. I really loved the place and always wanted to re-visit it.
It was great to be a kid there. There was always something to do. On Wednesday evening it was 9 cent night at the movies. for a quarter a kid could see 2 movies and 3 cartoons (9 cents), have a box of popcorn, (10 cents), a nickle candy bar and a penny left over for penny candy.
There was a mountain (hill) in town where people used to say a cougar lived. All the kids were afraid to camp up there. lol.
We had an earthquake in 1948 or '49 it was strong enough to knock me off my bike and knock off all the cans on the shelves at the local convenience store. (smile)
People were friendly, fantastic scenery, just a great place.. It was like a Shangri La tucked away in the foothills of the Cascades. Hope it hasn't changed much.
