We have some of the highest taxes in the U.S. -
10/27/2007 Our taxes have recently gone up over 50% per home a couple of years ago,which followed a huge tax increase several years before that also. Our taxes here are equal to what rents are in most of rural America!Some places very close to the beach, just because they have a "view" of the water are taxed near $20,000./yr.
If we were given, a discount on, or even free health care insurance, or similar discounts on higher education by a joint state/city venture, it would be worthwile living in this state. But with it being one of the highest states cost of living wise, it is NO bargain to live here, unless you like paying extortion-level prices for just about everything!
