San Antonio, TX

Good place for families and singles
- 1/31/2006
This city is great for families because the housing cost is very good (given you're one of the lucky people to have a Government job at the base or you work in the Health Care industry).
The city has Sea World, Fiesta Texas, Riverwalk is always beautiful, hill country is a good place for picnics and outdoor activities, there are nearby lakes (my family loves Canyon and Medina Lake), and hey, the newest shopping center at La Cantera is a perfect excuse to not drive all the way to Houston or Dallas. I live in a beautiful home here that I probably won't buy if I still live in CA where the price is outrageous! The schools in the neighborhood are mostly new due to new developments all over the city. Night life is what you make of it. The good clubs might cost you extra but hey, you get what you pay for! If you want to get down and dirty, go to Sixth St in Austin because you just won't find it here in SA. :)

San Diego, CA

Great beach city!
- 1/31/2006
Being in the military, I still miss the place where I lived before I "cross into the blue." San Diego has so much to offer: the beach, mountain, desert, south of the border, country area in the east side, you name it! I love going to Balboa Park, the biggest urban park in the nation. Need not to mention Gas Lamp Quarter in downtown, it's a wonderful place to be if you're looking for a night life. Parties at the beach in Colorado Island and Pacific beach neighborhood were unforgettable. Just about everywhere you turn, there is something going on in this city. It's true that it's very expensive now to live here but hey, you pay for the place baby! You can move somewhere cheaper but it's just not San Diego!

Tacoma, WA

Most Improved City
- 1/31/2006
Tacoma has redeemed itself from the old stereotype of "Aroma of Tacoma" due to the paper mill industry in downtown area. Visiting it for the past two years, the city has indeed cleaned up and the view of the Tacoma Bay is breathtaking especially from my mother in law's home on a hilltop facing Vashon Island. Point Defiance is like a heaven for avid walkers and runners, it's like looking at a real life postcard picture :). If only I could have that in San Antonio, TX but the scenery in this lovely city is just great! Need not to mention that everything is so green and there are wonderful coffee shops just about everywhere (at least in the North end of Tacoma).
