Not the place to leave your heart anymore -
9/19/2021Lived in San Francisco for a good portion of my adult life but the pandemic really brought out the underbelly of the city that had always been there. Yes, the weather is great, and the food scene is unreal. The views are fantastic wherever you go and the city is very walkable and bikeable. But that's really about it at this point.
The theater scene is terrible compared to NYC, which is the area I'm in now. Crime is tolerated to an extent that it wouldn't be anywhere else. You can literally walk into a store and take whatever you want with no consequences, have a "sideshow" where you skid your car and the police won't do anything, etc. Then there's the serious homeless and drug use problem to the point where we couldn't even enjoy public spaces anymore without endless harassment for money. Worse was the fear of raving lunatics roaming around randomly ranting and screaming. Plus, SF is seriously dirty. People don't have any civic pride and throw their garbage all over the place.
