Boston, MA
Really surprised by the degree of segregation that -
6/5/2008I lived in the MetroWest area as a boarding student in 1999, originally from Florida and having moved every 2 years of my life. Recently resettled in Boston for marriage and educational/career opportunities for which this community is renowned. I think it's a great place for students and for those who like the advantages of a big city. Unfortunately, there are too many "hidden" pockets of poverty and the kind of struggling that shouldn't exist in a community with such a wealth of information and supporters of an improved world. Don't get me wrong, there is a LOT of commitment to community development, but it's contained and selective.
I haven't experienced much hateful racism, but the segregation lines are clear (and painfully quiet).
