2/15/2021These Comments regarding Oroville Ca are absurd. Oroville Dam was not built by skilled Workers from somewhere else. A large number of those who worked on the Dam were from Oroville and didnt leave once it was completed . Oroville is not a town populated by unskilled laborers. Oroville has many skilled professionals making up a large % of its population. Many just have to commute to other cities for work. Chico is not a superior or better city 30 miles north. Its a City whos main industry is Service . Its a City that exist because of a Calif State University existing there. A University that has a reputation not for excellence but for a party atmosphere. Its not a bad University but it certainly isnt a premiere school or even a great school. Chico has a large gang problem and a significant problem with Homelessness, rampant drug use , and very high rates of property, violent and sex Crimes . The idea that Oroville is not as nice a place to live as Chico is absurd. I'm from Chico , have lived in Oroville in the past and know without a doubt Oroville gets a undeserved reputation . A reputation given to Oroville by those who actually have never lived in Oroville and live in Chico. I would much rather live in Oroville. It doesnt have any problems any other small town doesnt have and has far fewer problems than a majority of similar sized cities in Calif. Chico on the other hand is a small city with big city problems like Crime, Homelessness and Other economic and social issues. And the traffic in Chico is absolutely horrific. Go to Chico Parks and then go to Oroville Parks and one will find out rather quickly that Oroville is a much nicer , far safer city with a undeserved reputation. Chico has a absolutely inflated fake personna in reality and its reputation among the honest people of the area is far worse than it is portrayed to be !
