COST OF LIVING -
4/21/2012Moved here from CA 2 years ago. and I thought CA was expensive. I received a pay reduction of 15% when I got to Cary becuase of the so-called cost of living diference. but what they dont' factor in is that food, and necessities are far more expensive in NC than CA. the only thing different here is the housing market and not everyone owns a house. The cost of living here is 6.5% above the national average. How does that account for a cost of living adjustment in the negative.
The labor and rent laws are rediculous. Landlords and property management companies can raise your rent to whatever. The sky is the limint. Mine was just raised 15%. Something is serously wrong with this picture.
As far as the labor laws go...absolutely ridiculous and unfair. Landscape companies can hire you as a salaried employee so when you work overtime you get HALF time and less the more hours you work which amounts to less than minimum wage most of the time. Just another law here in NC for employers to abuse. And trust me they do. This state is way behind the times and is not the least bit interested in doing whats fair for it's law abiding citizens. I would not recommend you move here unless they change their laws.
