Cuba, NM is a small rural town located in the Southwest part of New Mexico. The rural community has deep roots that go back to the late 1800s and early 1900s when the area was primarily occupied by Mexican-American families. Education in Cuba is provided by the Cuba Independent School District (CISD), which contains an elementary school, middle school, and high school. The schools offer an array of educational opportunities and are considered to be some of the best public schools in New Mexico. According to GreatSchools ratings, all three schools score above average compared to other schools across the state. The focus on education within this rural community has resulted in students achieving academic success as evidenced by their excellent test scores and increasing graduation rates.
