Alatna, AK is a small rural town in the northern region of Alaska. With its population of 41 residents, Alatna is one of the smallest towns in Alaska. Despite its small size, this town has many businesses and outdoor activities to enjoy year-round. Local businesses include Alatna Valley Trading Post and the Alatna Roadhouse. For outdoor activities, visitors can enjoy fishing for salmon on the Koyukuk River or take a boat tour of the area. During winter months, snowmobiling is a popular activity. In addition to these recreational activities, Alatna also has many other social organizations such as churches and local clubs. The local sporting event is Dog Mushing which is an annual event held in honor of the Iditarod Race held every March in neighboring Nome.
