Fox, AK is a small unincorporated community located in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough with a population of 169. It has a population density of 22.94 people per square mile, much less than the US Population Density of 93.29 People per Square mile. Community members enjoy a variety of local businesses such as The Fox Mercantile which offers general merchandise and fuel to locals and visitors alike and Fireweed Homestead Store which offers specialty items such as handmade jewelry and crafts from local artisans. Year-round outdoor activities are plentiful in Fox, including hiking, fishing, camping and snowmobiling in the winter months. There are also several demographic organizations that provide support to the community such as Community Services for Children & Families (CSCF) which provides essential services to children and families in need. Lastly there are various local sporting events hosted throughout the year such as the annual Arctic Circle Race & Festival held each summer where competitors race in four different divisions around a six-mile course on either skates or snowshoes.
