Lutak, AK is a small town located in the Juneau Borough with a population of 202 people and 1.21 people per square mile. The town is home to many local businesses such as Lutak Fish Co., which specializes in selling fresh seafood caught by local fishermen, and Lutak Trading Post, which has been operating since 1910 offering outdoor gear and supplies for locals and tourists alike. There are plenty of year-round outdoor activities to enjoy in Lutak, ranging from fishing on the nearby lake to taking a hike up one of the nearby mountains. Visitors can also take part in the annual Humpy Cup kayaking competition that takes place on August each year. There are many demographic organizations in Lutak such as The Alaska Native Brotherhood/Sisterhood and the Tlingit & Haida Central Council, both of which work together to preserve and promote the heritage and culture of Alaska Natives living in the region. In addition, there are several local sporting events that take place annually such as The Juneau Run for Women 5K race which raises money for breast cancer research, or The Glacial Traveler 10K Race which winds through challenging terrain along Mendenhall Glacier.
