Flagler, Colorado is a small rural town located in the eastern part of Kit Carson County. With a population of just 504 people, Flagler has a population density of 444 people per square mile. Although Flagler is quite small, it still offers plenty of activities and organizations to keep its citizens engaged and entertained. The main economic driver in Flagler is agriculture, with local businesses such as F & M Farm Supply providing necessary supplies for the local farmers and ranchers.
For outdoor activities, Flagler boasts excellent hiking trails and mountain biking opportunities along the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range. Off-road enthusiasts can also find many sand dunes to explore near by as well as fishing spots on the nearby Republican River. For those that are more indoors inclined, there are several art galleries located in town where visitors can view unique pieces created by local artists.
Flagler hosts several annual sporting events such as the Kit Carson County Fair Rodeo and Horse Racing which are held every summer at the local fairground complex. There are also several other organizations active in Flagler including 4-H clubs, a public library, a community theater group, and numerous churches from different denominations throughout town. With so much to do for residents and visitors alike, it’s easy to see why Flagler has become such a popular destination for locals looking to escape city life for a bit of peace and relaxation!
