Hayward, MO is a small town located in the northern part of the state. With a population of only 72 people, Hayward is an idyllic place to live with plenty of open space and natural beauty. The population density of 451 people per square mile gives Hayward its rural charm and makes it an excellent spot to get away from city life. Even though the town is small, there are still local businesses that are thriving in Hayward, such as the historic Hayward General Store, which has been in business since 1909. Year-round outdoor activities include fishing, hiking, swimming and camping at nearby Missouri State Parks. Local sporting events include softball tournaments held during the summer months at local parks and school playgrounds and basketball tournaments hosted by the YMCA throughout the year.
