Hachita, NM is a small unincorporated community located in New Mexico's Grant County. With a population of just 9, Hachita is one of the smallest communities in the state and has a population density of 72 people per square mile. Despite its small size, Hachita boasts many businesses and outdoor activities that make it an attractive place for visitors and locals alike.
For shopping, visitors can find foodstuffs at the Silver Dollar Market, or visit the nearby City Center in nearby Lordsburg. In addition to everyday supplies, patrons from around Grant County gather together to buy household items at Hachita’s Family Dollar Store. For diners looking to enjoy a meal out, they can find hot Mexican cuisine at El Jardin restaurant.
The Grant County area offers plenty of outdoor activities throughout the year including camping and fishing at nearby Lake Roberts or hiking along the nature trails along the Gila River. Other recreational activities include horseback riding and mountain biking on local trails managed by Friends of Gila Wilderness.
Along with outdoor activities, Hachita also hosts several sporting tournaments throughout the year with soccer teams competing in late spring and early summer while baseball takes over during late summer months. There are also annual rodeo events held in June where cowboys compete for best-in-show honors for their horses and bull riding performances.
