Monterey, TN is a small town nestled in the Cumberland Plateau region of Middle Tennessee with a population of 2,746 and a population density of 954 people per square mile. It is located near the Kentucky border and has a subtropical climate making it well-suited for outdoor activities. The abundance of rivers and lakes around Monterey provide ample opportunity for fishing, swimming, kayaking, canoeing, and boating. The city also hosts several annual festivals such as the Monterey Crab Festival which celebrates local seafood and other regional delicacies as well as music performances from local talents. Monterey also has several historic sites that attract visitors from across the state including the Hermitage Mansion which was built in 1805 by future President Andrew Jackson.
