Sicily, a beautiful and flourishing region of Italy, is not only known for its breathtaking scenery and stunning architecture but also for its religious congregations. These churches, monasteries, and abbeys have been a part of the island’s culture for centuries and are still active in many parts of Sicily today. Some of the most well-known are the Basilica di San Giovanni degli Eremiti in Palermo, Monreale Cathedral in Sicily’s capital city, and Cefalù Cathedral near Palermo. Aside from these major attractions, there are numerous smaller churches that can be found throughout the region. Many of these churches offer Mass services as well as special events such as weddings or christenings. With so many great places to explore or to simply take in the beauty of Sicily’s religious sites, it’s no wonder why this area has become so popular with tourists.
