Burton, TX is a small town located in Washington County, Texas with an estimated population of around 325 people. Despite its small size, the town has four churches within it's city limits. First is the Burton United Methodist Church, which was established in 1869 and has since been a fixture for the community of Burton. The second church is the Faith Lutheran Church which was first established in 1971 by a group of German and Czech immigrants coming into the area who were looking for a place to practice their faith. The third church is St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, which was founded in 1892 as the sole Episcopalian church in Burton. Finally there is the New Hope Baptist Church, which originally began as a Primitive Baptist Church before being reorganized into a Missionary Baptist Church in 1917. All four churches serve as important institutions for members of the Burton community and provide religious services and social events throughout the year that are open to anyone who wishes to attend.
