Wakefield, Virginia is a small town located in Sussex County. Although its population of just 2,000 people is small, there are a variety of churches in the area. On the north side of town, there is Mt. Nebo United Methodist Church which has been providing spiritual guidance and support to the community since 1871. It is widely known for its annual Christmas Eve service held in the beautiful sanctuary as well as its strong youth outreach program. On the south side of Wakefield lies St. Paul's Episcopal Church which has served the community since 1903. This traditional church offers bible study classes and Sunday services throughout the week and year. Along with these two long-standing churches, there are several more which make up Wakefield's religious landscape including an Assemblies of God church, a Catholic church, a Baptist church, Seventh Day Adventist church and several other denominations.
