Coal City, WV is a small community with a population just over 500 people. Being so small, there are only a few religious congregations in the area. The most prominent churches are Coal City United Methodist Church, First Baptist Church of Coal City, and Covenant Holiness Church. Coal City United Methodist Church has been around since the late 1800s and continues to serve the community through worship services and various acts of service. First Baptist Church of Coal City was established in the early 1900s and provides bible study classes and other activities for members of all ages. Covenant Holiness Church is a newer addition to the town but has quickly become an important part of the community for its members. All three churches host outreach programs to help those who may be struggling financially or socially in the area.
