Klukwan, AK is a small rural village located in Southeast Alaska. It is home to approximately 300 people, the majority of them being Alaska Natives. The community is served by two schools – Klukwan School and Chilkoot Indian Association Headstart/ Early Childhood program. Both schools are highly rated by parents and students alike for their commitment to providing educational opportunities for all students regardless of their background or circumstances. The curriculum focuses on traditional culture, language, and values that are important to the local community. In addition to academic achievement, teachers strive to create positive learning environments that foster collaboration among students and encourage personal growth. Students have access to resources such as a library, computer labs, science labs, art studios, and a music room. Teachers are dedicated to ensuring that every student has ample opportunity for success in academics as well as life outside of school.
