4/26/2009parentWe've had a great year. Matthew has enjoyed going to school. Mrs. Lopez is great and provides a great climate for learning. We can only hope next year will be as good.
8/9/2008parenti have never seen such violent, angry and aggressive children in my life. The school is beautiful and the teachers are great but the majority of the students are aggressive vicious little people. I feel sorry for the decent families who have children in that school. Do yourself a favor and check all of the demographics on these schools, you will be shocked when compared to the other side of town.
1/4/2008parentI have two different opinions and I've known this school for a very long time. The good side is the office staff....wonderful! Connie is exceptionally accomodating and very nice. I haven't had much involvement with the principle so I can't speak for her.
10/27/2006parentAll of my four children have attended this school. It gets better every year. The principal is knowledgeable, visible and available to parents and students. My children have had wonderful teachers who teach to high standards and maintain orderly classrooms. I cannot say enough about Bayou Woods. My only regret is that it only goes to third grade.
9/20/2006parentThe staff and teachers at Bayou Woods have been great to my children. For being such a large school, each child gets treated and taught on an individual bases. This school offers so much and is very organized. The school always looks clean and the cafeteria has the best food. I have 3 children that are attending this school for the 2nd year.
6/1/2006staffBayou Woods is a wonderful school with a very caring faculty and staff. I have had the pleasure of working here for 15 years and have enjoyed the students and parents as well as my coworkers. I know how hard everyone works to make the learning experience a great one for all the students. To all the students who have walked, skipped, ran and laughed through these halls you have made ALL of my days at Bayou Woods very special. All the children here are unique and loving and are worth all of our time and energy.
7/26/2005parentBW is a great school, Last school year was my son's first year there in the 1st grade and what I regret the most is not sending him to BW early. My son has special needs and the teacher recognize that early in the semeter and they worked with me and him to accomadate his problems and the best work has been done to make sure he achieves and everyday I see a difference in my child. Keep up the good work, the teachers at BW are the best. Thanks
2/8/2005parentBayou Woods has been a wonderful educational experience for both of my children. The teachers and staff have done an awesome job considering that the school was orgially built for 400 students and there are now over 900. I don't know of any other school where the teachers work together for the benefit of the students and don't compete amoung themselves. I have also been to several other schools around the parish and I have heard some students spoken to in an abrupt way, however, I do not know the whole situation and IU am not there to judge. Perhaps if more parents spent time up at their child's school, they would understand better what a teacher has to deal with on a day to day basis and not be so quick to judge that teacher who spends more time with your child than most parents.
9/1/2004parentBW is fair. There's a kind of 'pot-luck' aspect to the school. It is woefully over crowded at this time (2004) and the strain is really beginning to show. Unfortunately this is true for most of the schools in the area. A good education can definitely be had at Bayou Woods. But, as with any school, strong parent involvement is a definite must to keep an eye on things.
8/7/2004parentWhen I moved to Slidell from New Orleans, I was very impressed with the warmth and concern that was expressed about the transition. The office personnel was so helpful with the comforting of my son even when I was'nt present my son always had something good to say about the staff and students.I would highly recommed Bayou Woods. The teachers are so well trained and the kids are well disciplined and loved, something hard to find. Keep up the good work!
7/14/2004parentMy child attends Bayou woods now and it has been a very poor experience for us. All of the kids are taught at the same level, irregardless of their abilities. The lessons are far below where the children should be at their age, they are all geared to children who are at a lower level. The teachers use yelling instead of implementing a code which the children recognize as quiet time. My child is doing exceptionally well here and is favored because of it and that leaves the children who aren't doing so well to fend for themselves. I think it could be a decent school, but the teachers would have to receive very in-depth training.
8/25/2003parentMy son started at Bayou Woods in the middle of the year last year. The staff and his teacher did an excellent job to make him feel welcomed and made his transition great. He is attending again this year and loves it still!
8/13/2003parentI have been very pleased with the school. Last year was my children's first time attending this school and they made the transition for them very easy. The teachers are very caring and willing to help a child in any areas of difficulty that they may have. I would recommend this school to any parent that wants a good educational experience for their child and also a caring enviroment.
