The state of Maryland has a variety of public transportation options available for residents and visitors. These include bus networks, commuter rail systems, light rail systems, and more. The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) runs seven bus networks across the state, serving over 700 communities. The MTA also operates two commuter rail systems – MARC and Amtrak’s Acela Express – in addition to light rail services in Baltimore and its surrounding towns. In North Dakota, the transportation network is much less developed than that of Maryland.
