Alpine County, California is a rural area located in the Sierra Nevada Mountains. With a population of only about 1,200 people, it is one of the least populated counties in the state. Despite its size, Alpine County offers plenty of transportation options to its residents.
The primary form of public transportation in Alpine County is provided by Eastern Sierra Transit Authority (ESTA). ESTA provides regularly scheduled bus services throughout the county as well as inter-city connections to other regions on the eastern side of California. In addition to bus services, ESTA also provides demand-response services for those with special needs.
Alpine County is also served by several regional airports including Mammoth Yosemite Airport and Bishop Airport, both of which provide commercial flights with connections to other parts of California and beyond. However, Amtrak does offer Thruway Bus Services from San Diego to Reno that pass through Alpine County on their way north. Overall, Alpine County does have limited public transportation options but that doesn't mean it's impossible to get around this beautiful region of California's High Sierra Mountains.
