Ozark, Alabama is a small city located in Dale County. It has a long history of politics and actively elects officials to represent their community. Ozark has a mayor-council system of local government with an elected mayor and five council members who are elected at-large or from single-member districts. The Mayor is chosen in a nonpartisan election while the five City Council members must be affiliated with a political party. Ozark is also served by representatives in both the Alabama House of Representatives and the Alabama Senate. These representatives have been elected to serve Ozark as well as other areas in Dale County. Local elections are held every four years and citizens can vote for candidates that they feel will represent the interests of their city in the most effective way possible.
