Whittier, Alaska is a small city with a population of just under 200 people. It is located on the west coast of Prince William Sound and is a popular tourist destination, as well as home to many fishing and subsistence hunting operations. Despite its size, Whittier plays an important role in local politics. The city has an elected mayor and 4 councilmembers, who serve four year terms.
