Carmel-by-the-Sea, CA is a small city located on the Monterey Peninsula of California. With a population of just over 4,000 people, it has a long history as an art colony and tourist destination. When it comes to local politics in Carmel-by-the-Sea, the city council is comprised of five members who are elected by the citizens for four year terms. The council handles issues such as zoning laws, land use decisions, and the local budget as well as other matters related to running the city. Additionally, California's state senator for this area is Bill Monning and assemblymember Mark Stone. Both Monning and Stone have served in their respective positions for multiple terms and have made significant contributions to Carmel-by-the-Sea during their time in office.
