The town has a rich history of political involvement and is home to many active citizens who are passionate about prominent local issues. The town of Lake Hughes is served by an elected five-member Town Council that meets regularly to discuss matters important to the community, such as public safety, zoning regulations, parks and recreation, infrastructure projects, and other municipal services and programs. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
