Bridgewater, CT is a small town in the Litchfield County located in the western part of Connecticut. It has a small population of just over 2,000 people and is known for its rural village atmosphere. The town's local government consists of an elected Board of Selectmen who handle local laws and policies. There is also a Town Meeting where citizens come together to discuss and vote on issues important to the community as a whole. The meeting takes place every other year in March. Bridgewater has strong ties to both Republican and Democratic parties with many of its citizens being active members in each. In recent years, there has been an increased focus on environmental sustainability and ensuring that resources are used responsibly. Local initiatives have been put forward to protect the town’s forests, rivers, lakes, and wetlands from development or destruction by making sure they are managed responsibly for future generations to enjoy.
