East Haddam, CT is a small town located in the state of Connecticut with a population of approximately 9,000 people. The town is governed by a five-member Board of Selectmen and each member serves for a two-year term. The town also has its own Town Hall which houses all of the local government offices. The town holds regular elections to elect leaders who will represent them on the Board of Selectmen and Town Meeting Members. These elected officials are responsible for making decisions on behalf of the citizens in regards to tax rates, public works projects, and other important issues that affect the community. Elections are held in off-years, however there may be special elections when needed such as when an elected official resigns or passes away. The most recent election in East Haddam was held in November 2019 where two new members were added to the Board of Selectmen. In addition to local politics, East Haddam residents also take an active role in state and national politics as well with many individuals being involved in campaigns for various political candidates at all levels of government.
