Avondale Estates, GA is a small city located in DeKalb County and is home to approximately 3,000 residents. Politically, Avondale Estates is part of the Georgia House District 88 and Senate District 42 which are both represented by democratic candidates. Since its incorporation in 1984, the city has had an active local political climate with an elected mayor and four city council members who oversee services such as public safety, parks and recreation, community development, water/sewer maintenance and zoning ordinances. The current mayor of Avondale Estates is Ed Rieker while the four council members are Bob Miller, Bill Orr, John Queen and Gordon Certain. They all work together to ensure that the needs of the community are met while also pushing for positive growth in the town. Additionally, citizens are encouraged to be involved through various volunteer opportunities such as serving on boards or committees or attending public meetings. Through these efforts, Avondale Estates continues to strive towards making their local politics more transparent and accessible for all who reside within the city limits.
