Beardstown, IL is a small town located in central Illinois with a population of 6,123 according to the 2019 census. The city has had a long history of political involvement from the local level to the state and national level. On the local level, Beardstown holds regular city council meetings that make decisions on budgeting, ordinances, and other important matters for the town. The current mayor of Beardstown is Eileen Bulinski who was elected in 2017. Local elections for City Council representatives take place every two years in April and are open to all registered voters living within the city limits. On a larger scale, Illinois’ 16th Congressional district includes Beardstown along with other rural areas in central Illinois. The current representative is Republican Adam Kinzinger who has been serving since 2011.
