Mason City, IL is a small town located in central Illinois with a population of approximately 4,000 people. The city is run by an elected mayor and six aldermen who make up the Mason City Council. Every April, the citizens of Mason City have the opportunity to vote for candidates in local elections for positions on the council. Currently, Mayor Pauline Johnson and Aldermen David Miller, Joseph Roberts, Judy Jones, Mark Wilson, Susan White and Samantha Brown serve on the council and are responsible for governing the city’s day-to-day operations. Each year, candidates from both major political parties compete for these seats in order to represent their constituents’ interests in local decision making. Through local politics, Mason City residents can help shape their community for future generations to come.
