Sidell, Illinois is a small town in Vermillion County with a close-knit community of approximately 1,000 residents. The Town of Sidell has an active local government that is responsible for providing the citizens with essential services such as police and fire protection, sanitation services, water supply and maintenance of public roads. The town is also responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of all the local businesses in the town. In addition to these services, the town also participates actively in local politics. Every 4 years, the citizens of Sidell come together to elect a mayor who will lead the town’s administration and oversee its operations. Aside from the mayor, other positions up for election include four council members who form part of a working committee that makes decisions regarding conditions within the town limits. This past election saw Mayor Jim Smith win his third term in office while new faces were elected into council member positions. With their new leaders in place, the people of Sidell look forward to furthering progress and development as they continue to make their hometown a safe and enjoyable place to live.
