Stickney, IL is a small village located in the Cook County of Illinois. It has a population of about 8,000 people and covers an area of 3.5 square miles. Although Stickney is small in size, it still plays an important role in politics within the county. The village is represented by a mayor and six trustees who make decisions regarding local laws and regulations. Together they oversee the taxation system, the provision of services such as water and waste management, public safety, park maintenance, zoning ordinances and more. As part of Cook County politics, Stickney also takes part in regional elections where citizens can choose representatives from their area to represent them at higher levels of government. The most recent election saw the reelection of Representative Elizabeth Hernandez to serve another term for District 21 representing Stickney and surrounding townships on the Cook County Board.
