Clermont, Indiana is located in southwestern Indiana and is a small town of about 1,500 people. It is known for its rural landscape and history of small-town living. Politically, the town is primarily comprised of Republicans and they have held offices in Clermont for many decades. The current mayor of Clermont is Jim White and he was elected in 2016 for his second term after being sworn into office in 2014. Additionally, the town has two town council members: Linda Barger and Chuck Gately, who were both elected in 2018 to serve four year terms. As a small rural community with a long history of conservative values, Clermont seeks to preserve the traditional way of life it has been known for while also navigating the ever-changing political landscape and working towards progress.
