Canton, KS is a small town located in the northeast corner of Kansas. Although it is a small town, it has an active and involved local political scene. The City of Canton operates under the mayor-council style of government with five council members representing the city's residents. The mayor is elected for a two-year term, while the council members serve four-year terms. Every November, elections are held to determine who will represent the citizens of Canton on the city council. Issues discussed and voted on at these meetings include budgets, ordinances, services provided to the community, and economic development plans. All citizens of Canton have the right to vote on these matters and voice their opinion at local government meetings.

R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
