Colfax township (Wilson Cnty), KS is a small rural community located in the south-central portion of the state. The township has a long history of being an agricultural and farming area with a population of just over 1,400 people. Despite its small size, Colfax township is very politically active. The local Township Board consists of five members who are elected to two-year terms, and there are several other local offices that citizens can vote for including the Mayor, Clerk, Treasurer, Assessor and one Justice of the Peace. There are also numerous special committees that have been set up to address specific topics such as education, planning and zoning, finance, roads and bridges, cemetery maintenance and more.
