Jeanerette, LA is a small town located in Iberia Parish, Louisiana. The population of the city is 2,892 according to the United States Census Bureau. The town has a mayor-council form of government and the current mayor is Janis Lemaire. Jeanerette also has a city council that is responsible for providing legislative support for the local laws and ordinances, plus setting up budgets and dealing with any other important issues concerning the local community. The members of the council are elected every four years in non-partisan elections by the residents of Jeanerette. All five members are chosen at large and serve staggered terms, so not all members are up for re-election in one year.
