Bar Harbor, Maine is a small town located in Hancock County on Mount Desert Island. The town has an engaged and active population who take part in the local political process to make sure their voices are heard. At the local level, Bar Harbor has a Town Council that is responsible for governing the city and setting policy. Elections for Town Council occur every two years, with residents of Bar Harbor choosing from a selection of candidates to represent them. The council is made up of seven members; the mayor, who serves as chairman, three ward councilors, and three at-large councilors. This year's election will see new faces vying for positions on the council as well as incumbents running for re-election.
