Rochester, MA is a small town in Plymouth County, located on the South Shore of Massachusetts. As of 2019, Rochester had a population of 5,582 people. In terms of politics, Rochester is an overwhelmingly Democratic town. The town's current state representative is Norman Orrall, who has been in office since 2013 and was re-elected in 2018. The town also has a Board of Selectmen whose members are elected every two years to manage the day-to-day operations of the town. Additionally, Rochester is part of the 12th Plymouth District and its state senator is Michael Brady (D). On a national level, Rochester supported Hilary Clinton in the 2016 Presidential election by a wide margin with more than 74% of votes cast. All in all, Rochester is politically active and supports progressive causes.

Here at BestPlaces, we were looking at the voting patterns since the 2000 election and realized that we could express the results of each election as one letter. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won.
