Floodwood, MN is a small town located in central Minnesota with a population of just over 1,400 people. Despite its small size, Floodwood is an important part of the political landscape of Minnesota. The town is served by the local government of St. Louis County and elects representatives to represent it in both the state senate and house of representatives. These representatives work hard to ensure that Floodwood receives the resources it needs to keep its citizens safe and thriving. In addition to state elected officials, Floodwood has a long history of electing local leaders to serve on the city council and mayor's office. The current mayor is John Jorgensen who was elected in 2017 and will serve until 2021. The council members consist of three wardens from each district plus two at-large members. They work together to pass legislation that benefits all of Floodwood's citizens while also creating economic growth initiatives for businesses and residents alike.
