Hoyt Lakes is a small city in Minnesota with a population of around 1,100 people. The local politics are managed by the City Council, which consists of five members and a mayor who all serve two year terms. Elections are held every two years to determine the new leadership. The current mayor, Matt Johnson, was elected in 2018. He has been instrumental in introducing several initiatives to improve the quality of life for local residents. He initiated programs to reduce energy costs and has worked on ways to make the city more environmentally conscious. Additionally, Mayor Johnson launched an infrastructure project that will provide computer access to all households in the city. This will allow for greater access to educational resources and economic opportunities for Hoyt Lakes citizens.
