Cape Girardeau is the county seat of Cape Girardeau County in Missouri. The city has a rich political history, with decades of both local and national candidates consistently campaigning for voter support in the area. Although local candidates are not mentioned, the Mayor of Cape Girardeau is currently Bob Fox. He was elected to office in April 2018 and has since been advocating for economic development and job growth for his constituents. On the state level, Cape Girardeau is part of Missouri's 8th Congressional District and is represented in Congress by Jason Smith. At the national level, Senator Josh Hawley and Senator Roy Blunt represent all of Missouri's citizens in Washington D.C..
