Maurice River Township is located in Cumberland County, NJ and is a rural community with many farms and wetlands that are home to a wide variety of wildlife. The township has been governed by an elected five-member Township Committee since its inception in 1875. Every three years, there is an election for the members of the committee. The current members of the committee are Mayor Ronald Hentges, Deputy Mayor Stephen McQuilkin, and Committee Members Robert Pitman, Diane Sheppard, and Pauline Schott. Each of them bring their own unique set of experiences and perspectives to the table as they strive to make Maurice River Township an even better place to live in. The township has also recently left the Cumberland County joint health insurance program in order to save money on healthcare costs for its employees. The residents of Maurice River can be proud that their local government is taking proactive steps towards creating a sustainable future for their community.
