Hurley, New Mexico is a small town of about 1,000 people located in the southwest corner of the state. Though it's small, the politics in Hurley are still very important to its citizens. The local government consists of a mayor and five city council members who are elected every four years by the residents of Hurley. The mayor is responsible for running municipal meetings and deciding on various local policies. The city council is responsible for setting budgets and enacting laws that affect all citizens in Hurley. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D if the Democratic Party candidate won and I if the Independent Party candidate won. I moved to Hurley in 2001 because I could buy a well-built, 60-yr-old, 700 sq ft house for only $30,000, also the climate extremes are the mildest of any place I've ever  More
