German, NY is an unincorporated community located in the town of German, Herkimer County, New York. Politically, this area is represented by the Town of German officials. Currently, the Town Supervisor is Joseph A. Kinney and the Town Council Members are Kevin W. Smith, John C. Sitterly, Daniel J. Beadle and Raymond F. Swoverland Jr., all of whom were elected for a four-year term in November 2019. The town operates under a Supervisor/Council form of government; with day-to-day operations managed by a Town Administrator/Clerk and department heads such as Highway Superintendent and Code Enforcement Officer who are appointed by the Town Board. The town also works closely with state representatives to ensure that any local issues are addressed on both a local and state level.
